At Meridian we encourage you to be open about your preference in massage pressure, room temperature, body areas that need work, etc.
What should I expect on my first massage therapy visit?
It is best to arrive a few minutes early to your first massage therapy visit to allow time to fill out a health history form . Your therapist will begin the visit by asking general questions to establish specific problem areas or health concerns to make your session as effective and safe as possible. A full assessment will also be performed to determine what massage techniques are appropriate for you.
Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Massage therapy work can be done in many environments. At Meridian we have 3 beautiful massage rooms designed to evoke a calming and relaxing atmosphere beneficial to massage. We also have a complete changing room with a full shower for our clients use. Our onsite shower facilities mean that you can shower, change, and leave Meridian ready to take on your day.
Must I be completely undressed?
This is always optional and we suggest you undress only to the level you are comfortable with. Most undress completely for a full body massage but rest assured we will always keep you well draped and only uncover areas we are working on.
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
Yes. The massage therapist will leave the room for you to disrobe, and will always ask if you are ready and comfortable before reentering.
Will I be covered during the session?
Yes. You will be completely covered during a massage except for the area the massage therapist is working on.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
This is completely your decision. The massage therapist will discuss your wants and needs before the session begins.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?

The best thing to do during a massage is to make yourself comfortable and RELAX. The therapist will gently move you or direct you to move if needed through out the massage.

After a massage session most people feel very relaxed. Muscles may feel looser and depending on the session, some may experience decrease in long-term aches and pains. Deep tissue massages can cause slight soreness in the body for a few days. We recommend you drink more water than usual after a massage to keep you body's tissues hydrated and healthy.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
There are some medical conditions that may prevent you from enjoying a massage. It is very important that you inform us of any health problems you have or medications you are taking. This is the reason we have you complete a health history for before a massage.

Having a massage license or certificate means the therapist met all state requirements and passed the Michigan State exam.
What if I am overweight or embarrassed about my body?
You can rest assured your therapist will treat you with kindness and respect regardless of your body type.
